Who We Are?

SHARE — Somali Humanitarian Action for Relief and Empowerment — was established in 2020 in direct response to Somalia’s protracted and deepening humanitarian crisis. The founding team of Somali humanitarian practitioners recognized a critical gap: while international organizations provided significant resources, the absence of a strong, locally-led Somali NGO capable of reaching the most remote and conflict-affected communities in the South West State — particularly in Bay and Bakool regions — was leaving entire populations without life-saving assistance.

Since its inception, SHARE has grown from a small community-based initiative into a credible national NGO with a proven track record across eleven districts in Bay and Bakool. Between 2020 and 2026, SHARE has responded to multiple overlapping crises: severe drought (2021–2023), flooding, conflict displacement, and COVID-19 impacts — consistently delivering programs that combine emergency relief with sustainable community recovery.

The organization was built on the twin pillars reflected in its name: immediate humanitarian relief and long-term community empowerment. Today, SHARE is recognized by UN clusters, the Federal Member State of South West Somalia, and international partners as a trusted implementing partner with deep community roots, clan-neutral standing, and the operational capacity to work in highly insecure areas.
